I had to check I hadn’t missed a few months and April 1st hadn’t rolled round again, but according to the telegraph.co.uk site Queens University, Belfast are to offer a 1 day course in November entitled “Feel The Force: How To Train In The Jedi Way”. Will I be enrolling? Em…..no! I can think of plenty of other things to spend £23 on.

It’s 25 years since Professor Scott E Fahlman of Carnegie Mellon University posted the above well known symbol on an on-line bulletin board, something he claims to have been the first to do. So now all those who hate emoticons know who to blame.

This can’t be genuine, doesn’t look particularly well suited as either. Certainly doesn’t look comfortable enough to sit on for long periods of time. And with what looks like a 2000 euro price tag it really has to be a joke.

With the current fad of calling the new-born something unusual a new book is due out later this month to give parents some new ideas. Why not use your favourite SF/fantasy film/TV show/book for inspiration? And so Sci-fi Baby Names: 500 Out of This World Baby Names was created. For an Australian perspective read here.
